About the Catholic Archives of Texas

The mission of the Catholic Archives of Texas (CAT) is to collect, preserve and make available for research books, artifacts, records, and photographs that document the Catholic experience in Texas from the sixteenth century to the present. The CAT is the official repository for the Texas State Council of the Knights of Columbus, the Texas Catholic Historical Society, and the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops.

How do I use this website?

To search all collections, type a keyword into the search bar. For advanced searching, the “+” icon can be selected to add additional search fields. The tabs above the search bar can be used to browse collections by subject, name of an individual, or record group.

How do I access collections?

Collections are available for onsite research by making an appointment. Appointments may be made by contacting Selena Aleman at selena@txcatholic.org or 512.476.6296.
All fully processed collections are available to research except when noted within individual finding aids. Collections labeled as unprocessed may only be partially available to research to best protect the integrity of the records.
At this time, collections are not digitized and only available for onsite research.
