Abstract
The Texas Diocese collection consists of ephemera, newspaper clippings, publications, and written works from Catholic dioceses in Texas collected by the Catholic Archives of Texas.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
This collection was created by the Catholic Archives of Texas staff to document the history of the Catholic dioceses in Texas. It includes information and materials about all the dioceses and archdioceses with Texas except for the Diocese of Laredo. The Diocese of Laredo was formed after this collection was created.
The material has been collected from a number of different sources. It began as a clipping file, with articles from the Catholic press and other types of material added over time. Sometimes, the Catholic Archives of Texas has acquired a small amount of material relating to a particular diocese. When these additions or "accessions" are too small to be described as a separate collection, they are placed in this collection.
